DNS settings

We own the wingpath.co.uk domain, but it is administered for us by LWDinternet, who also host the wingpath web site for us. They provide a control panel that enables us to configure various things such as mailboxes.

One of the pages of the control panel allows us to edit the DNS settings for the wingpath.co.uk domain. Most of the DNS configuration was done for us by LWDinternet, but I have made a couple of additions. [UPDATE: it seems that it was a mistake allowing me to edit the DNS settings, and we can no longer do it. However, the changes I made have not been undone.]

Firstly, I have added a couple of entries that allow email receivers to tell if our domain is being used as a forged return-address in emails. These entries use the Sender Policy Framework, and were generated using their wizard:

Secondly, I have added an entry for the fixed IP address (62.3.234.1) provided by Nildram for our ADSL line. Nildram's DNS servers already map the name wingpath.gotadsl.co.uk to this IP address. The entry that I added to the LWDinternet DNS servers additionally maps the name sage.wingpath.co.uk to the same IP address:

Nildram also provide a control panel, and they allow us to specify the hostname to be used for reverse DNS mapping of the 62.3.234.1 IP address. I've changed the reverse DNS name from wingpath.gotadsl.co.uk to sage.wingpath.co.uk.
