Hi Frank,

I hope you’ve managed to stay safe these last couple of weeks. The most extreme weather seems to be clearing, even if parts of the country are still dealing with floods.

I don’t know about you, but I always find weird weather like this blows up my climate anxiety. The climate crisis doesn’t cause winter winds (I’m old enough to remember the 1987 one) but it is making them more severe, especially when it comes to impacts like flooding. And whenever storms hit, they’re a dramatic reminder of how vulnerable to the elements we are.

Help us turn climate anxiety into practical action

When climate fear starts to hit, it can be tough to shake off. As a result, I started off the working week feeling rather nervous.

But then I logged onto our virtual office and was reminded of everything my colleagues have been doing to turn climate fear into positive, practical action. This last month alone we've helped hundreds of volunteers to plant 1,500m of hedgerows (over 7,600 trees) at farms across the UK. I’m joining the tree planting team next weekend, and can’t wait to get my hands dirty.

But as storms hit ever-harder and the amount of time we have to act gets ever-smaller, we need more than a few thousand trees. We need era-defining change on a massive scale. The size of this challenge can be daunting for a small charity like ourselves. We know we’re up to it. We have to be. But we could really do with your support.

With your help we can keep bringing people together to take real action on climate change and tackle the sense of climate doom, whether we’re planting trees, demanding better support for clean home heat, or something else entirely.
